NDIS Services (National Disability Insurance Scheme)
Fit Clinic is NDIS registered and can provide services to NDIS registered clients funded via the service. We have registered providers that work under the “Health and Wellbeing (Exercise Physiology and Dietetics) and Improved Daily Living (Therapeutic Supports and Podiatry).” If you think you or someone you know might be eligible read on.
What is the NDIS?
The NDIS will provide all Australians under the age of 65 who have a permanent and significant disability with the reasonable and necessary supports they need to enjoy an ordinary life. The NDIS will help people with disability achieve their goals. This may include greater independence, community involvement, employment and improved well-being.
To become an NDIS participant a person must:
- Have a permanent disability that significantly affects their ability to take part in everyday activities;
- Be aged less than 65 when they first enter the NDIS;
- Be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent visa or a Protected Special Category visa; and
- Live in Australia where the NDIS is available.
Can I still receive support if I do not meet the access requirements for the NDIS?
– A person does not have to be an NDIS participant to receive support from the NDIS.
– The NDIS will connect people with disability, their families and carers, including people who are not NDIS participants, to disability and mainstream supports in their community.
– To find out more about information, links and referrals to community and mainstream support services visit www.ndis.gov.au or call 1800 800 110.
These are the success stories that we are really proud of as they show how the work we do can have such positive outcomes in real life. It makes our work so worthwhile.
One is a boy living with Autism who was non-verbal publicly when he first came to us. Through his work with us, he was able to develop the strength, stamina and social skills to travel overseas to New Zealand and climb a mountain. He then went on to meet an online gaming friend that he’d never met, who was totally unaware of any diagnosis.
One of our brain injury clients came to us following an accident a few years ago which left them unable to do their job as a graphic designer. They’d put on 20 kilos, were immobile and their nutrition wasn’t great in this period. Fast forward 18 months seeing this client, they’d lost 20 kg, were able to catch public transport independently and had started working in design again. It was a huge achievement.
The team at Fit Clinic has made a significant difference in my life. With their help I’ve been able to attend regularly and lose a lot of weight after my accident and now I’m helping my family stay healthy too.
The team have helped me a lot over the last two years, the Exercise Physiologists have helped me exercise and stay fit and healthy to be able to maintain employment despite my MS as well as the podiatrist helping me with my feet and gait.
