5 Tips To Help You Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions
We are down to the last day of this year and you should probably be able to think of some good resolutions for new year by now. We always aim to make change when the year starts but did you know that a research conducted in University of Scranton suggests that only 8% of people achieve their New Year’s Resolutions? Also based on a research, those people who write down their goals are more likely to succeed. We hope you will fall into the successful percentage with the help of these tips that we prepared.
Be Realistic – It is important to set goals based on your capacity of getting things done. You definitely do not want setting too big nor too small goals. Always aim to challenge yourself.
Break it Down – Some people set huge goals that will overwhelm them. A chunk of goal is usually found in the Fitness category. A goal which is “to LOSE weight in a course of a year” seems so simple but how are you going to make that happen? Breaking it down into smaller steps will help you take actions to it. It would be better to set smaller goals like “60 minute jogging 3x/week”, “reducing portion sizes to 25%”, and “bodyweight based training 2x/week” wherein you can quickly adjust when necessary.
Track the Progress – Smaller goals are more manageable. As mentioned earlier, those who write down their goals are more likely to be successful than those who don’t. You can track them by the use of a journal so that you can visualise how far you are to the goal and what are the things you’ve already completed towards the goal.
Keep on Trying – There are temptations everywhere and do not be too hard on yourself if you give in sometimes. What you have to keep in your mind is to always keep on trying. Always check out your goals (through your journal or wherever it is listed) to be reminded about the things that are needed to be done.
Celebrate! – Celebrating even the smallest achievement will help you refresh your mind and will allow you to gain motivation to continue striving towards success.
Hope these quick tips will help you set achievable goals for this 2015!
